Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman, Mohamed Azmin Ali has received the official letter from the Selangor palace on his appointment as the next Selangor Menteri Besar (MB) at 5pm, today.

“This is to announce that the D.Y.M.M Sultan of Selangor has appointed Y.B (Azmin) as the Selangor Menteri Besar effective September 23, 2014,” the letter reads.

The swearing-in ceremony of the new Selangor MB is scheduled to be held at the Istana Alam Shah,Klang tomorrow.

Azmin had earlier denied that he would be appointed to replace Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and said that the information spread were merely rumours.

Pictures of the Selangor MB swearing-in rehearsal ceremony went viral on social media, however no pictures of the assemblyman was among them.

Apart from Azmin, two other PAS assemblymen, Iskandar Abdul Samad and Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi was also said to be among the candidates nominated for the post.

Iskandar however denied the matter.

PKR had earlier named its president, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the only candidate for the post.

The Selangor palace had however asked all parties within Pakatan Rakyat to provide more than two names as the possible candidates for the post.

Soon after the final date of the submission of candidates, only PAS had provided the palace with three candidates while PKR and DAP was steadfast with its decision of naming Wan Azizah as the candidate.
