Astro Productions Sdn Bhd (APSB) and Iskandar Malaysia Studios Sdn Bhd (IMS) are collaborating to offer world-class integrated television content production services at Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios (PIMS).

IMS has appointed APSB, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad, as the exclusive provider of equipment and services for production of television content as its two 12,000 sq. Ft. High Definition television studios.

“The Malaysian industry brought in RM565 million in content export revenues last year and is expected to bring RM600 million in 2014.

“The ministry lauds the collaboration between APSB and IMS to provide comprehensive production services, combining the state-of-the-art PIMS with experienced and cost-effective technical crew, as well as with experienced and proven management,” said Communication and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.

Astro CEO Datuk Rohana Rozhan said this collaboration would play a pivotal role towards making Malaysia and Malaysians a creative force to be reckon with not just in the region but also globally.

“It brings together Pinewood Iskandar, the Malaysian government through MCMC, Malaysian talent, local and global producers, global networks and Astro with the common objective of producing exceptional television,” she said.

Under this collaboration, APSB is committed to undertake a minimum of 4,500 hours of production per annum at PIMS in the first two years and 3,000 hours of production per annum in the third year.
