Former executive chairman of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) Tan Sri Dr Ani Arope was laid to rest at the Section 21 Muslim Cemetery, here at about 3.30pm today.

Earlier, the funeral prayers for Ani was carried out at the Surau Al-Ansor, Section 2, here at 2pm.

About 100 people comprising family members and acquaintances were at the burial ground, including TNB chief executive officer Datuk Seri Ir Azman Mohd and vice-president for Human Resource, TNB, Datuk Muhammad Razif Abdul Rahman.

Ani died at the Subang Jaya Medical Centre at about 5.10am due to prostate cancer.

Born on May 17, 1932 in Sungai Bakap, Seberang Prai, Penang, Ani is survived by his wife, Puan Sri Saenah Ahmad and three children besides numerous adopted children.

Ani served as TNB executive chairman from 1992 until 1996 besides helming several private companies, institutions of higher learning and various organisations.
