Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas), has relaxed all levels of the water rationing plan throughout the state of Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya temporarily.

Syabas Assistant General Manager of the Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Department, Priscilla Alfred said the relaxation of the rationing plan followed the restart of operations at the Water Treatment Plant (LRA) at Cheras Batu 11 and Bukit Tampoi since March 30 after the ammonia content in the Sungai Langat had declined to a low level.

"Water supply from both treatment plants had been channelled by Syabas to the areas which had water rationing as usual.

"However, the operating company for both treatment plants, Puncak Niaga (M) Sdn Bhd informed that the situation had not been truly stable with the erratic ammonia content in Sungai Langat," she said in a statement on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the relaxation of the third and fourth stages of the rationing plan was made possible as all the treatment plants had increased their production of treated water after the rise in the flow of river water around the Sungai Selangor area.
