UMNO will use the "SMPPSS" or "siang, malam, pagi, petang, subuh, senja" (day, night, morning, evening, dawn, dusk) formula to prep for the upcoming 14th General Election (GE14), said Datuk Ahmad Maslan.

This means that UMNO members will work non-stop from day to night, from dawn to dusk to ensure their win, he said.

The party information chief expressed confidence that the formula would be able to win the hearts and minds of the rakyat to continue support UMNO in GE14.

"We need to prioritise the people and performance. It's the Opposition that's in a mess right now, why are we the ones losing confidence to win?" he told Astro AWANI today.

Ahmad was elaborating on an earlier statement he made about not needing to answer questions of Barisan Nasional (BN) could win the GE if it was held tomorrow, because the GE would only likely be held in 2018.

That statement, unfortunately, was deemed a joke by netizens who claimed the minister had made a mockery of himself.

Former deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had also commented that Ahmad made a 'world class joke' with that statement because it did not make any sense.

Yesterday, Ahmad uploaded the "SMPPSS" formula on his Twitter.

Ahmad, who is also Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister, said besides "SMPPSS", another formula that UMNO will go by servicing the public is "KBSMM" which is to visit and assist the rakyat during "kenduri, bersalin, sakit, malapetaka, mati" (feasts, births, sickness, disasters, deaths).

He said UMNO also need to have the "four S" elements in their battle: "setia, sepakat, strategi, sungguh-sungguh" (loyalty, consensus, strategy, determination).

"If we, as war generals, continue to speak negatively, for example talking of defeat, then our soldiers and warriors will not have the spirit to win, and will not go all out for victory.

"In the war of politics and perception, we need to give a positive view.

"Negative thinking can never achieve positive things. When the GE comes, BN will triumph," Ahmad added.
