The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and the Police will conduct a two-level security check at the entrance of the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil during the second leg final of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2014 between Malaysia and Thailand on Dec 20.

FAM secretary-general Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin said the tight security check would be carried out to ensure no untoward incidents like what had happened during the Malaysia-Vietnam semifinal match at the Shah Alam Stadium on Dec 7.

Hamidin therefore urged football fans and supporters to cooperate with the authorities and security personnel who are on duty at the stadium during the final.

"Since Police will conduct body screening on match day, the process could take time and slow down the process of fans entering the stadium. So, the fans must be ready to face such a situation for the benefit of all.

"Security is our main concern, especially the safety of fans from Thailand who may come to watch the match in Bukit Jalil," he said when briefing the media about FAM's preparations from the AFF Suzuki Cup 2014 final after the draw for the 2015 FA Cup.

Meanwhile, Hamidin confirmed that the FAM did not receive a show cause letter from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) over the fracas between Malaysian and Vietnamese fans at the Shah Alam Stadium on Dec 7, as reported by a local daily.

He added that the FAM had actually received a show cause letter from the Asean Football Federation (AFF) over the incident which also drew criticism from Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

"I did read a report claiming that the FAM had received a show cause letter from the AFC but we have not received anything. We have only received a letter from AFF," said Hamidin.

Malaysia made it to the final after beating Vietnam 5-4 on aggregate while Thailand booked their berth with a 3-0 aggregate win over the Philippines.

Thailand will host the first leg of the final on Dec 17.
