Eight former staff of former Selangor menteri besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim will be ordered to return the compensation totalling RM2.6 million paid to them.

Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali said this is because the payment of compensation was not done according to procedures and violated financial regulations.

"After seeking the advice of our lawyer, the new MBI management (Menteri Besar Incorporated) decided that they must return the money (compensation) as it violated several financial procedures and regulations.

"I have been informed by MBI that a letter will be sent to them and they have to return the money," he told reporters after attending the Selangor Maulidur Rasul celebration, here today.

Eight former staff of Abdul Khalid, who were appointed by MBI on contract basis, reportedly received compensation totalling RM2.6 million.

The compensation paid was deemed as ridiculous by various parties, including Shah Alam MP Khalid Abdul Samad.

The payment was allegedly made at the end of Abdul Khalid's service and before Mohamed Azmin was apppointed as Selangor Menteri Besar on Sept 23, 2014.

Mohamed Azmin stressed that the eight former MBI staff will be paid compensation accordingly.

"The MBI management will pay the compensation in accordance with the terms and conditions stated in their respective contracts," he added.
