The private secretary to the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani said he had received a request from embattled Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to meet the Sultan outside the country.

However, the Sultan of Selangor has asked Abdul Khalid to wait until he return to the country.

"I have sent his request to the Sultan. However, the Sultan has asked him to wait until he returns to the country in a few days,” said Mohamad Munir.

The statement added that Abdul Khalid wanted to explain the situation and political developments in the state as well as his position as MB after PAS had withdraw their support.

On Sunday, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail remains as the Pakatan Rakyat's sole candidate for the Selangor MB position.

This was the verdict from the coalition's council meeting despite PAS deputy president who had earlier suggested PKR deputy president Mohamad Azmin Ali for the position.

"The Pakatan Rakyat Leadership Council appreciates the decision of PAS to remain in Pakatan Rakyat and the need to replace the Selangor MB.

"However, Azmin Ali insisted that he remain supportive to the decision of Dr Wan Azizah as a candidate for the new Selangor MB," said the joint statement by PKR de factor leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and PAS deputy president Mohamed Sabu yesterday.
