Selangor Menteri Besar and newsportal, SelangorKini had denied that the Selangor state government media was used in Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim's campaigns for Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) party elections.

Abdul Khalid will be facing incumbent Mohd Azmin Ali for the party’s deputy president position.

“No, I did not use,” Abdul Khalid was quoted by Malaysiakini.

SelangorKini chief editor Fazallah Pit in a statement said the decision to publish an article which supported Abdul Khalid for the position was a ‘fully editorial decision’.

He said the article titled "Pemilihan PKR 2014: Kenapa Tan Sri Khalid wajar diangkat sebagai Timbalan Presiden" (PKR 2014 Election: Why Tan Sri Khalid should be made deputy president) was not done based on orders from any parties including Abdul Khalid himself.

“Portal SelangorKini / TVSelangorku is a website that reports state government news but that does not mean political issues will be sidelined,” he said.

“The article was to ensure that SelangorKini did not miss current news,” Fazallah said in a media statement adding that the article, quoting Omak Kau blog had only discussed candidate’s victory and did not hurt any parties.

He said the SelangorKini editorial are willing to consider publishing articles on other candidates, if there are any, adding that the decision lied fully with the chief editor.

The issue was raised when Keadilan Youth secretary Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad had criticised SelangorKini and accused Abdul Khalid for misusing Selangor state government media for personal reasons and campaigns for PKR party election.

Apart from Abdul Khalid and Azmin, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution and Hulu Selangor branch chairman Datuk K. Ramachandran are also vying for the party’s number two position.
