Around 41 female students from SMK Sultanah Bahiyah, Alor Setar suffered food poisoning after consuming free packet drinks distributed to them.

These hostel students complained of stomach pains and vomiting after consuming the drinks and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Free packet drinks were distributed to the students at 6pm on Wednesday.

At 8.45pm, several students started feeling ill and complained to their teacher that they were feeling unwell.

At 9.30pm, 15 students were brought to the Sultanah Bahiyah hospital (HSB) here for treatment.

30 minutes later an ambulance had to be sent to the school to help other students who were experiencing diarrhea and vomiting.

The hospital director, Datuk Dr Juita Ghazalie when contacted said that all the students had to be quarantined until their situation improved.

The hospital has taken down the students explanations and have taken a sample of the drink for further investigation.
