A four-year-old boy died after being left in his father's car for more than eight hours in Kuala Nerang, Wednesday.

According to a police spokesman, the boy, Muhammad Aqil Arfan Adnan was left in his father's car which was parked at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kuala Nerang from 7.30am to 4pm.

He said the boy's father had parked the car at the school without realising that his son was sleeping in it.

"He should have sent the boy to the nursery. It was only when he returned to his car at 4pm did he realise that his son was in it," he said when contacted today.

The spokesman said the father took the boy to the emergency ward of Kuala Nerang Hospital where doctors confirmed the boy had died.

It is understood that the boy's body was taken to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital, here, On Wednesday night for a post-mortem.
