The Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) investigation into the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) has been completed, BNM Governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz said.

"Bank Negara has done its investigation on 1MDB, related to those areas under its purview and legislation," Zeti said at a press conference after announcing Malaysia's second quarter GDP results today.

She said their investigation was completed this week and the investigation papers were submitted to the Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali this week.

She said the report also included recommendation of appropriate action.

On the alleged transfer of funds into the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's accounts, Zeti said Bank Negara had shared all information with the relevant authorities.

Bank Negara is one of the bodies investigating 1MDB, under a special task force. Others are the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP), the MACC and the Attorney-General’s Chambers.

However, on August 5, MACC said there is no longer a need for the special task force following the advice of the AG.

Instead, MACC said the investigating agencies can continue their individual roles based on the respective laws.
