1,500 people from 20 Malacca non-governmental organisations (NGOs) gathered peacefully in Padang Nyiru Banda Kaba before marching one kilometer to Melaka Tengah police station to make a police report.

The report was lodged to voice out opposition to the Bersih 4 rally which took place in Kuala Lumpur recently.

According to Malacca Umno Youth Chief, Zali Md Yasin, this peaceful rally was to express their love for the country and to defend Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s leadership.

Among the three reports made in Melaka Tengah police station included the NGOs disapproval towards Bersih 4 and the rudeness displayed by some individuals who stepped on pictures of Prime Minister and PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.

In addition, the report was also lodged against Alvin Tan, who threatened to rape Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s daughter and his actions of tattooing the word "Allah" on his thighs were brought to their attention as well.

Zali said these actions are an affront to the religion, ethnic Malays and Malaysians as a whole.

80 policemen were on guard for the one-hour rally.

There were no fights and chaos reported during the rally and it ran according to official directives.
