In spite of the need to be strict in enforcing the law, compassion among human beings is still required.

Muar Member of Parliament, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman made that statement regarding an individual who was issued a summons for failing to wear a face mask properly, as in a video that has gone viral on social media.

"I understand that the PDRM is only carrying out the task of keeping the law.

"But this is not fair! A young chap who just opened his mask for a while was issued a summons but VVIPs who were photographed in a crowded place were not immediately taken action on.

"We are fellow human beings. There needs to be compassion," the former Minister of Youth and Sports wrote on Twitter.

In the video that has gone viral, the individual believed to be a student was fined RM1,000 for opening his face mask while on the waiting platform at a train station.

The teenager, who was seen crying, claimed that he lowered his face mask to his chin for a while due to feeling itchy.

However, a Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) officer said that the public often gave the same excuse.

He added that the rules on face mask stated that it should be worn at all times in crowded public places.
