Xiamen University Malaysia is offering special grants to attract Bumiputera and Indian students for its foundation and degree courses for the 2017 intake.

Its associate professor (journalism), M. Krishnamoorthy said Bumiputera and Indian students with 4As and above stood to get scholarships of up to 100 per cent while those facing financial problems could apply for additional financial aid.

He said the same criteria of 4As also applied to Chinese student scholarships.

"The next intake for foundation and degree is on April 17. The following intake in August is for foundation while that in September, is for degree," he said in a statement Thursday.

Among courses offered at the university are degree in accounting, finance, international business, journalism, computer science, sofware engineering, digital media technology, chemical engineering and marine biotechnology.

The university offers a one-year foundation programme in arts and social science costing RM12,000, and foundation in science at RM13,000, with the medium of instruction for all programmes in English, except Chinese studies and traditional Chinese medicine.

Meanwhile, parents and students are invited to attend the university's open day this weekend at its campus located in Sepang near the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. - Bernama
