A 34-year-old woman was stabbed to death in a robbery attempt at her house in Kampung Hijrah, here yesterday.

Kuantan district police chief, ACP Abdul Aziz Salleh said Norhasilah Ismail, who was stabbed on her stomach and chest, was believed to have been robbed when she returned home after sending her son Mohd Abid Nasrul, eight, and daughter Nor Alia Arieysa Mohd Shuhaimi, 13, to school around 8 am.

"Police do not rule out the possibility of a scuffle before the victim was stabbed. The police will examine the closed-circuit television camera in the victim's house to identify the suspect," he said.

Abdul Aziz said the victim's body was sent to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital for post-mortem and the investigation would be carried out under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

He said Norhasilah's body was found lying in a pool of blood in the living room by her husband Nasrul Mansor, 32, when he returned home after picking up his son and stepdaughter from school.

During the incident the victim's 4-year-old son was in a room on the top floor of the house which was locked from outside.
