A housewife currently serving time for cheating, was sentenced to another three years' jail by the Magistrate's Court here today on three counts of online cheating.

Magistrate Mahyudin Mohmad Som handed down the sentence on Norshafika Ab Wahab, 27, who pleaded guilty to cheating three women over the sale of disposable napkins that did not exist.

The woman, currently, serving a three-year jail sentence for cheating, was sentenced to a year's jail on each count, to be served consecutively from Friday.

On the first count, Norshafika was charged with cheating Hawa Mohamad, 30, by deceiving her to make an online payment of RM1,500 into her (accused) account for the sale of 75 pieces of disposable napkins which did not exist.

The offence was committed in Sentul here on Dec 27, 2015.

On the second count, she was charged with cheating Yasmin Abdul Ghani,30, by deceiving the woman into transferring RM1,500 into her account at Jalan Raja Chulan here on Jan 8, 2016, for the purchase of the disposable napkins which were advertised on Facebook.

Norshafika was also charged with cheating Nazlinda Mat, 29, by deceiving the woman into believing that she could sent the disposable napkins bought online, hence prompting her (Nazlinda) into depositing RM2,000 into her account at Jalan Dang Wangi here on Jan 5, 2016.

All the charges were made under Section 4520 of the Penal Code which provides an imprisonment for up to 10 years and whipping, and is liable to fine, if found guilty.

In mitigation, Norshafika, who was unrepresented, said she was currently serving a three-year-jail sentence for a similar offence.
