The wife of Musa Awang, the president of the Malaysian Syarie Lawyers Association, today withdrew her divorce petition against him at the Petaling Lower Syariah Court here.

Hamidah Junid, 43, made the decision after her husband refused to enter into a joint agreement on division of property and alimony.

The couple have three children aged 10 to 18 who are stil schooling.

Syarie judge, Husaini Roslin allowed Hamidah's application to withdraw the petition and order her to RM100 in costs.

Earlier, Musa, 42, had told the court that he was willing to divorce his wife but without conditions.

However, Hamidah objected saying that had made a prior agreement on asset distribution and alimony.

Hamidah, a primary school teacher, filed the divorce petition on May 18, the 20th anniversary of their marriage.

Met by reporters afterwards, Hamidah said she would be filing a "fasakh" application (to get the court to grant the divorce).
