Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak questioned Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's intention when the latter asked about the balance of the RM2.6 billion political donation.

Salleh said there was no need for Muhyiddin to publicise the party's internal problems to the public.

"To me, it is not necessary for Tan Sri Muhyiddin to tell it to the public because it is an internal matter of the party.

"He (Muhyiddin) is the deputy president of the party. He has a channel to ask the question.

"The question is, what was the motive raise the question in public, when we have our own way of solving problems?" he told Astro AWANI at the 'Pray For Malaysia' event in Dataran Merdeka, Saturday.

He felt that any questions towards UMNO president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak should me asked behind closed doors.

"From what I see, the question was originally about how the money was used and the Prime Minister has explained that the money was used for party activities and CSR (corporate social responsibility).

"And now it's 'is there any money left or not?'," he said.

He said the important thing is they should know that any political party would have its own political funds and it's not against the law.

"The party president is entrusted to manage the fund as best as possible and if the Deputy President has any questions, of course he (Muhyiddin) can ask it directly to the President or the Supreme Council any time," said Salleh.

In a speech to Kemaman UMNO delegates on Friday, Muhyiddin has urged Najib to explain certain issues that are raised including the whereabouts of the balance of the RM2.6 billion of political donation channelled into his personal account.

He said the move should be done before it tarnishes the image of the government and the country.
