A weak earthquake measuring 3.4 on Richter scale occurred at 9.17pm in Ranau, Sabah Monday night, according to the Meteorological Department.

In a statement, the department said tremors were felt in the district.

Meanwhile, another moderate quake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale was detected to have occurred in Mindoro, Philippines, about 184km Northwest of San Hose, and 883 km Northeast of Kudat, Sabah at 9.50pm last night.

Both incidents posed no tsunami threat to Malaysia, the statement said.
