Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said he and Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will find the best formula in efforts to resolve the crisis plaguing the MIC.

Najib, who is also Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, drew attention to the fact that MIC had accepted his suggestion for the warring parties in the BN component to respect a moratorium to stop the infighting.

"MIC is an important partner in the Barisan Nasional. We need an MIC that is strong and can help us in all aspects," he told reporters after chairing an Umno Supreme Council meeting at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here today.

"We will look for the best formula," stressed Najib.

The infighting broke out after differences in opinion rose within the party leadership on addressing a Registrar of Societies directive on Dec 5 last year for MIC to hold fresh elections for its three vice president and 23 Central Working Committee seats within 90 days, following complaints of abuse of power and misconduct during its polls, which contravened the party's constitution and the Societies' Act.

The ROS also advised MIC against holding its annual general meeting until the issue was settled.
