A ten-year-old boy, who was chained to a gas tank on Thursday, admitted his mistake for returning home late at night, causing his stepfather to lose his patience.

When visited by Pahang Women and Family Development, Communications and Multimedia Committee chairman Datuk Shahaniza Shamsuddin at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital here, the victim said he regretted the mistake and it was the first time he was ill treated by his stepfather.

"The matter was told by the victim and based on observation, the victim is in a good condition and he expressed his wish to meet his biological father in Melaka, whom he last met during last year's Aidilfitri.

"I am satisfied with the explanation by the doctor saying that the victim is healthy now and there is no sign of trauma or physical injury on him," she told reporters, here on Saturday.

However, she said further report on the actual situation of the incident would be determined through investigations by police and the Social Welfare Department.

Shahaniza said the victim would rest at the hospital under supervision of the department and would be given counselling from time to time.

On Thursday, police from the Kuantan district police headquarters Criminal Investigation Divisionrescued the victim after breaking into the back portion of his house at Indera Mahkota 1, here.
