Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) aired the takbir raya with sign language on Aidilfitri eve to welcome the first of Syawal at its premises and uploaded on Youtube to share the joy of the festive season with the hearing-impaired community.

USIM strategic communications centre officer Mohd Zaini Othman said the sign language takbir raya recital was also participated by vice-chancellor Datuk Dr Musa Ahmad with 30 people from USIM, Yayasan FAQEH, Negeri Sembilan Association of the Deaf, Malaysian Deaf Muslim Association and religious teachers for the deaf.

"The difference in using sign language as shown by USIM in its version of takbir hari raya is a missionary approach to people with hearing disability and the community," he said in a statement Monday.

Mohd Zaini said the sign language takbir raya recital was led by Quranic and Sunah Studies Faculty lecturer Dr Anuar Hasin who was also champion of the 2017 Perak Al-Quran Recital competition.

The takbir raya recital was recorded on June 12 at the main prayer hall of USIM Islamic Complex.
