The Malaysian Examinations Syndicate (MES) confirmed that the Mathematics and Tamil Language question papers for the Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) had been leaked and have been declared void.

Education Ministry director-general Datuk Dr Khair Mohammad Yusuf announced this at a special press conference held in Putrajaya today.

Anew date for students to re-sit both papers which is on October 9.

Dr Khair said the date was set after taking into account the Hari Raya Aidil Adha public holiday and the logistical aspects which includes printing and distribution.

He also assured that there will not be any more leaks of the UPSR paper.

“We are confident that there are no more leaks. We have done our investigation. All inputs until yesterday, these are the papers which has been leaked, Mathematics and Tamil language.

“Action would be taken if there is any negligence,” said Dr Khair.

He added as immediate measures, officers from the Examinations Syndicate will also be changed.

“This change is to strengthen the organisation and operations. We always screen for the eligible candidates,” he said.

In line with the leaked UPSR examination papers, all headmasters and teachers have been ordered to identify and provide counselling to students who are affected by the incident.

It had also been identified earlier that the English and Science had been leaked and students will have to re-sit the papers on September 30.
