A two-year-old boy was trapped for almost 30 minutes in his father's car here today before he was finally rescued.

The boy was having a fever and the father had placed him in the car, which was parked outside their house, to go to a clinic when the incident happened.

Nilai Fire and Rescue Station operations officer Mohd Fauzi Shamir said the station received a distress call at 11.39 am and arrived at the scene 26 minutes later.

"We had to break the glass window of the car to get to the boy who was weak due to lack of oxygen. The process took 10 minutes," he said when contacted by Bernama.

Mohd Fauzi said that according to the boy's father, he was taking the boy to a nearby clinic and had placed his son on the front seat in the car before getting out to lock the gate.

It was then that the car got locked with the boy inside and the air-condition not on, he said.

The boy was then handed to the father. -- BERNAMA
