Two men including a policeman were hurt in a firecrackers incident outside Perak Stadium after the first leg of the Malaysia Cup semifinal match between Perak and Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) ended last night.

District police chief ACP Sum Chang Keong said the victims were an Ipoh District Police Headquarters personnel, and a JDT supporter.

He said a disturbance occurred after the match but police managed to diffuse the situation around 12.30 am.

"The incident is believed to have been ignited by supporters of the home team, as JDT supporters were by then out of the stadium and had boarded a bus escorted by police," he told reporters after the match.

Sum said a number of individuals had been detained including those suspected to have lighted the firecrackers.

He added that more than 1,000 police officers and personnel including from the Federal Reserve Unit were deployed to control security and avoid any untoward incident during the match.

Meanwhile, Perak and JDT drew 1-1 after JDT player Mohamad Hasbullah Abu Bakar scored an own goal while Lebanon import striker Mohamad Ghaddar scored the other goal.
