Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been discharged from the National Heart Institute (IJN) at 4.30pm today.

The former premier had been warded there since Aug 9 due to chest infection.

A statement by IJN said Dr Mahathir would continue his physiotherapy sessions at home.

The last time he was admitted to IJN was on Nov 16, 2013 and was discharged after several days of treatment.

The 91-year-old is slated to be the chairman of a new political party, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), which is currently pending approval by the Registrar of Societies.
