The use of the MySejahtera application has become a new normal for Malaysians as a means of helping the government, especially the Ministry of Health (MOH), in monitoring the spread of COVID-19 infection in the country since April 28.
Today marks the 90th day of the country being placed under the Movement Control Order (MCO), effective March 18, and now in the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) since June 10.
Malaysians are strongly advised to use the MySejahtera application to enable them to do health self-assessments.
This application is an important tool for empowering the public as it provides the latest COVID-19 information and health advice, enabling MOH to take prompt and accurate action in the event of COVID-19 infection in the community.
Its components include daily data and information on areas with COVID-19 infection, as well as enabling users to identify nearby hospitals and clinics for screening and treatment.
In addition, users can use the application to scan QR codes and check-in at locations in lieu of manually filling in contact information, as well as recording body temperatures as a condition of entering premises, in compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) under RMCO.
MySejahtera is also being used by the MOH and the National Security Council (MKN) to monitor individuals undergoing quarantine at home, including those returning from overseas after June 10.
As of June 12, approximately 2.5 million people residing in the country have downloaded the MySejahtera application.
Realising the importance of MySejahtera in mitigating COVID-19 infection, the government has made various efforts to encourage the public to download the application.
The government, among others, will deposit RM50 to consumers’ e-wallets after they download the application, which is an initiative under the National Economic Recovery Plan (PENJANA) for those in the M40 and B40 groups, aged 18 and above, as announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on June 7.
Therefore, we Malaysians should make the MySejahtera application readily accessible as our 'best friend' wherever we are as it will assist us in obtaining health care information in the event of us developing any symptoms of COVID-19 infection.
In addition to complying with the SOPs of the RMCO, the efforts of Malaysians to use MySejahtera will help the government in the fight against COVID-19 to eradicate the virus infection in the country.
