Traffic flow in the East Coast Highway 1 (LPT 1) before the Gombak Toll Plaza heading to the federal capital is reported to be congested for five kilometres as at 5pm today.

A Malaysian Highway Authority spokesman said the situation was caused by the increasing number of cars when people started to return to the federal capital after the Aidilfitri holidays.

"The traffic is also slow moving from Lanchang heading to Karak, Karak Toll to Bentong, and Bentong to Bukit Tinggi," he said when contacted by Bernama.

According to the spokesman, traffic along the LPT2 route in both directions was still under control and smooth flowing.

Meanwhile, PLUS Malaysia Berhad in its Twitter account, said several routes along the North-South Highway (PLUS) was reported to be slow moving from Bertam heading to Sungai Dua, Jawi to Bandar Cassia, Bukit Merah to Bandar Baharu and Kuala Kangsar to the Tunnel.

Traffic was also reported slow moving from Bukit Beruntung to Rawang, Tapah to Bidor, Bidor to Sungkai and Slim River.

The traffic was also slow from Jelapang to Simpang Pulai layby, from Gopeng to Simpang Pulai and Gopeng to Tapah.

According to the website, traffic was slow moving in the south from Bandar Ainsdale to Nilai due to an accident at Km268.8 northbound and works to remove the vehicles had been completed.

It said traffic was also slow moving from Air Hitam heading to Sedenak, Simpang Ampat to Pedas Linggi, Senawang to Port Dickson, from Seremban towards the Seremban R&R due to the high volume of vehicles.
