Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has boosted the electricity supply system of 38 sports venues and 49 accommodation locations as part of its preparations for 2017 SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games (KL2017).

TNB distribution network senior general manager Wan Nazmy Wan Mahmood in a statement today said the championship locations had been monitored to ensure supply was stable as well as putting a contingency plan in place in the event of a breakdown.

"Our preparations which began in June, involved key infrastructure such as the Main Intake Substation, Main Distribution Substation and the related network system.

"A total of 139 personnel will be on duty at the headquarters operations room at Wisma TNB in Jalan Timur, Petaling Jaya to monitor the status of power supply during KL2017," he said.

Apart from that, TNB will also be opening five state operations rooms every day from 8am to 12 midnight in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Langkawi and Terengganu.

He added that 265 technical staff would also be put on standby at the various venues while 60 more would be on duty at system control centres to ensure the Games proceeded smoothly. - BERNAMA
