News portal The Malaysian Insider’s move to continue publishing an article on the Conference of Rulers allegedly rejecting the Syariah Criminal Code II 1993 (Amendment 2015) or hudud law is viewed to be an attempt to continue to challenge the Rulers' institution.

Communications and Multimedia Minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said the news portal's attitude has been deemed regrettable.

“I think the portal’s move not only tests the patience of Malay people, the Malaysians’ patience but also the Conference of Rulers’ patience and challenges the country’s key pillar, " he said during a press conference here, today.

The article said Shabery is provocative in nature just to observe the government’s and people’s reaction to it.

Last Thursday, the portal quoted sources as stating that the hudud amendments were rejected by the Conference of Rulers.

However, on the same day, Kelantan state Exco, Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan denied the news.

Following that, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the police are investigating the portal.
