Malay Consultative Council (MPM) Integrity Bureau chairman Tan Sri Mohd Zaman Khan Rahim Khan has urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to tighten their supervision towards civil servants.

"I am not saying that we spy on them. But when a government officer whose salary is known and drives a Maserati car, his background of course needs to be monitored," he said in a statement Wednesday.

He said there was nothing wrong at all if indeed the person possessed valid financial source, but if it was otherwise, an investigation must to be carried out.

Zaman Khan also suggested MACC to pay attention to the government tender handling process which was seen as the source of dissatisfaction for some quarters.

"The tender committee needs to be independent in making a decision," he added.
