Tabung Haji's (TH) decision to sell the land bought from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) is a move in the right direction to regain the confidence of depositors in the pilgrimage fund.

UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision can put a stop to the debate and controversy surrounding TH's decision to buy a 0.63 hectare land located at the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) worth RM188.5mil. among the people, especially the opposition.

"The decision can end accusations from certain parties and depositors in the fund. It can also put a stop to all kinds of speculation. Those who have deposited in the pilgrimage fund should not be worried about their money.

"The government has assured that money deposited in TH will be refunded if there was any problem," he told reporters at the closing of a Basic Course for Pilgrims from the Bera district at Masjid Bera, here today.

He said TH has also successfully expanded its investment activities to include various economic sectors, such as, commercial, industrial, plantation through Tabung Haji Properties, TH Travels, TH Engineering, TH Plantations.
