Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) is to provide non-stop KTM Komuter service for three days and two nights beginning Wednesday in conjunction with the Thaipusam festival.

KTM Komuter Services general manager Khair Johari Ishak said today the service involved 623 additional commuter services from Port Klang, Rawang and Seremban to the Batu Caves station.

This was to facilitate the transportation of people, especially Hindu devotees and tourists, to Batu Caves for the Thaipusam festival over the three days, he said.

"The train running time will be extended to cover also the period from midnight to 5.30am," he said at a press conference at the Batu Caves KTM station.

Khair Johari also said that KTMB would give a discount of up to 20 per cent for an adult return ticket to the Batu Caves station to encourage the people to use the service.

"With the special service this time, we expect Komuter users to rise to over 500,000," he said.

He also said that KTMB would deploy 500 staff on duty in view of the additional service.
