Ten major roads in the city will be temporarily closed in stages starting 10pm on Friday, to make way for the procession of the silver chariot in conjunction with Thaipusam on Sunday.

Kuala Lumpur traffic police investigation and traffic law officer DSP S.Markandansaid the roads would be closed to make way for the procession from the Sri Maha Mariamman temple in Jalan Tun H.S. Lee to Batu Caves.

The routes affected are Jalan Tun H.S. Lee, Jalan Sultan, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Tun Perak, Jalan Leboh Ampang, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Munshi Abdullah, Jalan Dang Wangi, Sogo Shopping Complex, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Sri Amar, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Jalan Konvil Hilir, Lorong Konvil Hulu, Jalan Perhentian, Batu 5 and Batu Caves.

"The road closure ends on Tuesday when the chariot returns to the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Tun H. S.Lee. Do not park vehiclesatthe routes designated for closure because vehicles obstructing traffic will be towed away.

"Road users can use public transport on thesaiddays to avoid any inconvenience," he told reporters during a briefing on traffic flow for Thaipusam, Wednesday.
