One of the rubber tyres of a four-car monorail train caught fire at the Titiwangsa station here this morning, resulting in the temporary suspension of the monorail service in the city from 8.50am.

In a statement, Rapid Rail Monorail Line chief operating officer, Abdul Hadi Amran said no one was in the train at the time of the incident.

"The fire was put out by the Fire and Rescue Department," he said of the incident that saw heavy smoke at the elevated station.

The service suspension was also prompted by a second incident which saw a two-car train stranded between the Imbi and Bukit Bintang stations due to technical problems.

A rescue train was dispatched to the scene and pushed the stranded train to Imbi station to clear the passengers.

"Rapid Rail is carrying out an internal investigation into both incidents and apologises for the convenience caused," Abdul Hadi said.
