All tahfiz centres that wish to operate in Negeri Sembilan must comply with the safety and security regulations to prevent any untoward incidents, said State Mufti Datuk Mohd Yusof Ahmad.

He said the regulations were crucial as more and more tahfiz centres had opened their doors to students.

"I think for safety reasons, all tahfiz centres, especially in the state, must comply with the regulations and standards set before operating. The centres must also be equipped with basic facilities such electricity and water supply.

"I found that lack of funding have been among the reasons that these centres are unsafe as most of the schools were (built on properties) donated by members of the public," he told the media after attending the Tahfiz STIFIn Darul Ulum convocation ceremony here today. - BERNAMA
