KUALA LUMPUR:Muar MP, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman fulfilled his vow to have his head shaved bald after meeting the contribution target of RM200,000 to buy laptops for students in his parliamentary constituency.

Interestingly, the shaving session which was started by his own mother, Sharifah Mahani Syed Abdul Aziz was carried out live on a local television show.

"Bismilahirrahmanirahim (In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful), fight my son for the sake of the people," said Sharifah Mahani as soon as she started shaving her son's head.

Syed Saddiq also shared the experience of having his hair cut by his mother when he was six years old on the programme.

The shaving was then taken over by a professional barber to complete his haircut until he was bald.

Earlier, the former Minister of Youth and Sports launched the # 1keluarga1laptop campaign with the goal that every family in the Muar constituency would have a laptop for the use of their children.

He targeted 500 families earning below RM1,500 who have children pursuing their education at institutions of higher learning.

The campaign managed to raise RM383,000 in five days.

"So far, 120 families in the Muar constituency have received the laptops," he said.
