A candidate sitting for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination was detained for alleged drug trafficking in a raid at a house in Jerteh last Wednesday.

Besut district police chief Supt Mohd Zamri Mohd Rowi said the student was caught while wrapping drugs, worth RM23,450.

"The suspect who was in a room panicked upon realising the presence of the police and threw a package out of a window," he told a press conference at the Kampung Raja police station here Sunday.

According to him, an inspection on the package found it contained 130 psychotropic pills.

The suspect also led police to the discovery of more drugs in a coconut grating machine at the house, he added.

Mohd Zamri said the student was being remanded for seven days from Nov 16, but allowed to sit for his SPM at the police lock-up. - BERNAMA
