A special meeting to address family, social and community issues during the Movement Control Order (MCO) was held yesterday to coordinate the role of each of the relevant ministries in order to reduce overlap of duties and expand the accessibility of services.

The special meeting was attended by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri, Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin as well as Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun.

According to Zulkifli, the portfolio under the ministers had their own niche areas in counselling, spiritual guidance and legal advice on households.

"The meeting has agreed to explore areas of cooperation to empower online services according to the respective niche areas for the benefit of Malaysians throughout the MCO," he said in a statement here today.

He said the special meeting was aimed at responding to the call by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who wanted to ensure that no Malaysians were left out of proper service related to family, social and community matters.

Zulkifli said a holistic and efficient strategic plan would be formed after a special discussion tomorrow (April 9) involving all three ministries, including the Federal Territories Ministry and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
