The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) has initiated legal action against a bus operator after its bus driver allegedly abused a passenger during a journey from Melaka to Penang in which the video of the incident went viral.
SPAD in a statement said an enquiry was conducted on Feb. 1 with the express bus, the driver and eye witness.
It has set in motion legal actions against the bus operator for breaching its operator’s license conditions which among others include the failure to ensure that the bus driver behaves and acts in an ethical manner.

“SPAD has also issued a letter to the Road Transport Department (RTD), requesting the revocation of the driver’s Public Service Vehicle (PSV) license, which will disallow him from driving land public transport vehicles in the future.
“In light of these developments, it has also been confirmed by the express bus company, that the bus driver is no longer an employee of their company,” said the statement.
SPAD reiterated that it views such misconducts seriously.
During the incident which happened on Jan 25, the driver was said to be outraged at the passenger for sleeping in a space provided for him.
