Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak today said that there are certain quarters who were always looking for ways to destabilise the country.

He said this was proven through the arrest of several individuals suspected of being involved in terrorist activities or groups.

"Recently, I read a statement by the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun on arrests that have been made of individuals who want to ruin our country's security.

"We are grateful to the security forces who always give priority to the matter (security) and the people need to be united (on this) regardless of their idealogical leanings," he said when speaking at the Perak-level Negaraku @ Community pogramme here, today.

The two-day event which began yesterday, was officiated by Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.

On Friday, Mohamad Fuzi said 48 individuals categorised as foreign terrorists (FTFs) had been detained by the authorities.

Salleh said in order to sustain the country and safeguard its future, the people should look no further than to retain the current Barisan Nasional government.

"A government that is capable of providing employment opportunities is our priority, and we should hold on to it," he said.

Besides that, he said leaders should not merely go down to meet the people at the grassroots-level to solve their problems as people preferred those who always understood their needs.

"It is important for us at all levels to be responsible for managing problems at the lower levels, and clarifying the current issues," he said.

He added that the ministry, through the Information Department of Malaysia was actively implementing Negaraku @ Community programme across the country.
