Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador confirmed that six police officers tested positive for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, 335 individuals, including family members of the infected officers, are under observation and waiting for test results.

“Six police officers have been tested positive. These are the risks that they have to take while carrying out their duties.”

“Another 335 are still waiting for test results,” he said on Astro AWANI’s Buletin AWANI Khas on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Abdul Hamid said the public’s adherence to the movement control order (MCO) implemented since Wednesday has improved.

“We expected that civilians will take some time to adjust on the first day. Going into the second, third and fourth day, we have seen improvement. I’d say the public’s adherence to the MCO have increased up to 90 percent.”

“But we hope to see the adherence level increase further.”

Abdul Hamid also urged the the public to comply with the MCO for the safety and well-being of the community.

Some civilians, he said, are still defying and not taking the MCO seriously. “There are a number of civilians who refuse to do so and are stubborn.”

Police have been deployed to conduct checks and roadblocks around Malaysia to curb unnecessary travel.

On Sunday, the army will move in to assist the police with the enforcement of the MCO.
