Six children who were among 20 picnickers camping near a river and trapped by strong currents that overflowed the river were rescued by the Fire and Rescue Department in Sungai Chiling, Kuala Kubu Bharu, this afternoon.

Kuala Kubu Baru Fire and Rescue Department (management and operations) chief Alimaddia Bukri when contacted today said during the 4.17pm incident, the victims were camping near the river when strong currents from the overflowing Sungai Chiling swept them away.

Alimaddia said a team of firefighters from the Kuala Kubu Bharu fire and rescue department rushed to the scene to carry out the rescue operation which lasted for about an hour.

"The victims aged between three and 30 did not suffer any injuries and were allowed to return home at 6pm," he said.
