The situation in Negeri Sembilan, which was hit by flash floods since yesterday, has returned to normal with the closure of the last evacuation centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sega, here at 4.30 pm today.

The State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, in a statement, said three relief centres were opened yesterday to accommodate residents in Seremban and Port Dickson who were forced to evacuate when flash floods hit their villages.

It said two of the centres were opened in Port Dickson, at SK Jimah and Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil Tanah Merah Site C, but they were closed at noon today.

“SK Sega, which was opened to accommodate 24 people (five families) from Kampung Sega Hulu and Kampung Sega Hilir, was the last to close after all the evacuees were allowed to return home,” it said.

Yesterday, 308 people from 72 families in five villages in Port Dickson and Seremban were forced to evacuate their homes due to flash floods, with 138 of the evacuees placed at three relief centres, while the remaining sought temporary shelter at their relatives’ homes.
