A single mother fractured her left hand in a struggle with two robbers who broke into her house in Kampung Merlak, at about 3.30am, yesterday.

Mariani Edi, 52, managed to escape and drove to the house of her eldest daughter, Sabariah Burhanalis, 35, at Felda Slendang 4 scheme to seek help.

Sabariah said her mother arrived at her house at about 5am with injury on the face and hand, and repeatedly declared that she was robbed.

"My mother said she could call me because her mobile phone was taken by the robbers. She was pinned down, her face was covered while a parang was pressed at her neck. Her hands and feet were tied with rope.

"She struggled because she found it hard to breath and was hurt in the process," Sabariah told reporters when met at her house, here today.

Sabariah said her mother was fortunate to keep a knife in the room, which she used to cut the rope used tie her hands and feet.

Meanwhile, Rompin police chief DSP Azli Mohd Noor when contacted, confirmed the robbery and that the estimated loss was at RM4,000.

"Among the items stolen by the robbers believed to be Indonesians are two pairs of gold earrings, two mobile phones, prepaid cards worth RM400 and automated teller machine (ATM) cards," he said.
