The date for sighting of the Syawal new moon to determine when Aidilfitri falls has been set for June 24 (Saturday ) or 29 Ramadan 1438 Hijrah.

A statement from the Office of the Keeper of the Rulers' Seal today said the Conference of Rulers had agreed that the date for Aidilfitri be based on sighting of the new moon and astronomical calculations.

"The Keeper of the Rulers' Seal will declare the date for Aidilfitri the same night through radio and television broadcasts," said the statement.

The sighting of the Syawal new moon will be conducted at 29 locations nationwide namely:
