A sergeant-major and a corporal were remanded for six days today to assist in an investigation into a corruption claim in Kulim.

The remand order on the two policemen aged 57 and 53 years respectively, was issued by Sessions Court senior assistant registrar Perintah Rusmini Mat Rashid.

An MACC source said the two were suspected of corruptly receiving between RM850 and RM900 monthly from lorry operators as an inducement to refrain from taking action against them for various traffic offences.

It was reported that the duo were detained in Kulim between 9am and 10am by a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission team.

Meanwhile, MACC investigation director Datuk Simi Abd Ghani confirmed the case when contacted.
