Several players representing states and clubs have come under the radar of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), said Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Datuk Azam Baki.

"I can confirm that we are monitoring several players and once we have concrete evidence we will charge them. This is a warning to all of you to better stop such activities.

"There are certain people maybe MACC cannot detect but once we know we will investigate and the implication after that can result in a life ban. It is not worth the risk for players or the organisation," he told reporters after a integrity pledge by the Perak Football Association (PAFA), here today.

During the ceremony, 380 players and officials under PAFA pledged to stay away from corruption.

Azam said based on their investigations, players indulge in corruption or bribery due to pressure from bookies.

"Bookies will try to be associated with players in various ways so it is best for players to stay away from them. Players and officials should also inform the MACC if approached by bookies," he said.

He also praised PAFA to be transparent and come forward to be associated with the MACC by signing the integrity pledge.
