Seven Perak state assemblymen were sworn in as State Executive Council (Exco) members at Istana Kinta here today.

Three of them are from UMNO representing Barisan Nasional (BN) namely UMNO Perak Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Saarani Mohamad, Datuk Dr Wan Norashikin Wan Nordin and Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya.

Also took their oaths today were Pas representatives namely state Pas commissioner Razman Zakaria and Mohd Akmal Kamaruddin.

The other two are from Bersatu - Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohamed and Abdul Yunus Jamahri.

The swearing-in ceremony was held before Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah.

The closed-door affair was attended by Perak Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, state secretary, Datuk Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim and Ipoh High Court Judge, Datuk Hashim Hamzah.

Ahmad Faizal was sworn in as the 13th Perak Menteri Besar on March 13.

Sultan Nazrin consented to Ahmad Faizal’s reappointment following his resignation as the 12th Perak Menteri Besar on March 10.

A day earlier, Ahmad Faizal announced Perikatan Nasional comprising BN (all UMNOs), PAS and Bersatu had the mandate to form a new state government after it managed to obtain support from 32 out of 59 state assemblymen.

The latest composition of the Perak state legislative comprises 25 from BN, DAP (16), Amanah (5), Bersatu (4), PKR (3), PAS (3) and Independent (3).

Meanwhile, Ahmad Faizal when met by reporters outside the palace said three more assemblymen would take their oaths as Exco members soon.

On portfolios of all newly-minted Exco members, Ahmad Faizal said the matter would be discussed with all of them soon. - BERNAMA
